Mission Ministry News:

Greece Baptist Church has been pleased and proud to sponsor the resettlement of a Bantu refugee family since February 2005.  Now, with over a year under their belt in their new homeland, the family has accomplished quite a lot.  Hassan has been holding down a full-time job as a housekeeper for a hotel.  In December, they moved to a new, less expensive apartment that allows him a shorter bus ride to work each day.  Abdikadir is getting good grades in school and is hoping to land a summer job.  Fatuma is in kindergarten and is learning an amazing amount of English.  She is even beginning to read!  Mohamed is 3 and is friendly and adorable.  His favorite English phrase is “Happy Birthday”, and he repeats it no matter what the occasion!  Khamis celebrated his first birthday and will soon have to give up his status as the baby in the family as Mumina is expecting a new baby boy in the end of May or early June.  We will be hosting a baby shower for her on May 7 at 12:00.  All are welcome!

Habitat for Humanity Home:

Greece Baptist Church joined five other Greece Churches to sponsor a home on Fulton Avenue.  This is the third time that this coalition has joined forces to build a home for a worthy family.  Following are pictures of the house as it was in the process of being built.

Donations are still being accepted to defray the costs of building this home.  If you would like to donate money toward this project, please contact Richard Cunningham for the correct process so that Greece Baptist is credited for your donation.
