Give Me a Break

Free Respite Program

A revolution of friendship

Give Me a Break is a free respite program serving those caring for a loved one with memory loss. We meet every Wednesday from 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM in the church parlor (Door #8). Participants can stay for a short while or the full four hours. Please bring a snack for your loved one.

What We Do
  • Provide an opportunity to renew and refresh while your loved one is in a safe and engaging environment

  • Carefully screen and train our volunteers through REST-certified trainers to accommodate people with memory loss

  • Assign one volunteer companion per participant

  • Provide supervision at all times by a trained coordinator

  • Create new friendships while playing games, singing songs, doing crafts, and more

If you have questions or would like to volunteer, please contact Program Coordinator Cheryl Frank at office@greecebaptistchurch.org or (585) 225-6160.

This program was developed through the cooperative efforts of Greece Baptist Church, Lifespan agencies, New York State Caregiver’s Respite Coalition, and the national REST (Respite Education and Support Tools) Training Program. Funded in part by a grant from the NYSCRC.
